A Clare slaughterhouse could be in line for an unexpected face lift under new proposals.
It comes as an application has been submitted to change the use of the Tulla Road Abattoir in Ennis to a gym.
The development would also involve the demolition of the existing cattle shed and the construction of a reception area, 5 new padel tennis courts, with an exterior leisure area and a 22 space car park, with 10 bicycle racks.
In its Planning report, Architects Hassett Leydon & Associates state the development will generate employment opportunities and will offer a mix of commercial and recreational use that will attract both day and evening visitors and contribute to the area’s vibrancy.
