On Friday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Sinn Fein spokesperson Kerry North Limerick West TD Martin Ferris who confirmed the explusion of Shannon Town Councillor Cathy McCafferty from the party 
Councillor McCafferty will remain on Shannon Town Council as an independent
Deputy Ferris called on her to give her seat to a Sinn Fein candidate

There is now no political representative of the Sinn Fein Parliamentary Party in Clare 
Councillor Cathy McCafferty is unavailable for comment his morning and has declined numerous invitations to speak with Clare FM in the past month

Parteen local Historian and author Donal O’Riain has been living in Parteen for almost 50 years
He and his wife Alice Were shocked to find out at the public consultation in Limerick last month that the Phase two of the Northern Distributor Road would cut their four-bedroom home, Tuairín na Molt at Ballykeelaun

Ed English, Spokepserson of the Northern Distributor Concerned residents encouraged people to attend a public march taking place tomorrow at 10am from The Tailrace car park to show their concern over the Northern Distributor Route
An information meeting will be held in St. Nicholas Church Westbury for the residents next Wednesday at 8pm.

A new report has found that older people are becoming more isolated because of a lack of access to the internet
The ‘Caught in the Web’ report from Older and Bolder reveals that elderly people find it difficult to get information on public services if they do not use the internet
It is recommending that more traditional methods of communication such as the telephone or post are maintained
Older and Bolder is calling for more traditional communication methods for elderly people – when it comes to information on public services
The report found that older people find it difficult to access information on various topics such as health services, bins and the household charge
It wants appropriate methods of communication to be retained – such as the telephone or post
Patricia Conboy, Director of Older and Bolder discussed the findings with John.

Lahinch based artist Michael Hanrahan was invited by the US-Ireland Alliance to gift two paintings to commemorate the Obama’s visit to Ireland last May
One painting, of President Obama at College Green in Dublin, will be a gift to President and Mrs. Obama
The second painting, of the President at his ancestral home in Moneygall, County Offaly, will be given to the US-Ireland Alliance to sell for the benefit of the non-profit organization’s George J. Mitchell Scholarship program
He is to present the painting for the Obama’s to US Ambassador Dan Rooney on Tuesday next
It will be on display in the window of Kenny’s Gallery in Lahinch this weekend for anyone who wishes to see it
Michael joined John in studio with the Obama painting and expressed his delight to have his paintings hanging in Aras an Uachtarain, Buckingham Palace and now The White House.

A Dragons Den style summer school has made the shortlist for the AONTAS STAR Awards this year along with two other Clare projects
The STAR Awards recognise outstanding examples of adult education in Ireland
This year five Awards will be given – four provincial awards and one nationwide award- they will be announced on 20th of this month
The Dragons Den summer school supported students at the VTOS Centre in Kilrush to develop ideas for new local enterprises
Teaches photography and design
It was a one off for last Summer- advising students who were just leaving school
They had three judges ‘Dragons’ with business backgrounds

We heard from Orla Walshe who met the Shannon Musical society as they prepared to take their performance of the Pyjama game to the stage this weekend
Orla met the cast and crew during rehearsals
