Morning Focus opened with a discussion of waiting lists for outpatients and inpatients in the Midwestern region. Gavin discussed the recent jump in the numbers waiting with Miltown Malbay GP, Dr Billy O’Connell.

Proposals to introduce an NCT-style test for tractors are causing concern for the farming community. Gavin spoke with Clare IFA chairperson, Willie Hanrahan.

Small Clare communities have had festival funding cut. Niall Minogue, Chairperson of Corofin Tourism, joined Gavin to discuss how the Festival of Finn (which will run on the May Bank Holiday) will be affected.

Pemba Support Ireland (PSI) is a charity based in Ennistymon that works on development projects on the tiny island of Pemba, off Tanzania. A team of students from Kilrush Community School then told Gavin of their award-winning project to simulate a space satellite in the size and volume of a soft drink can. That’s part of an initiative of the European Space Agency and the team will now go forward to a national event in Portlaoise from April 27 to 28. Listen back below:
