Warning Over Clare Gorse Fires

Clare’s Fire and Rescue Service is warning that gorse fires are illegal around this time of year.

The bird nesting season runs from March 1st until August 31st, and anyone found burning vegetation or woodland, or starting gorse fires can be prosecuted.

A massive gorse fire in the Gougane Barra Valley in Cork, destroyed 350 acres of forestry over the weekend, while there were seven smaller incidents in Clare over the past two days.
