Bishop Asks Clare Parishes To Postpone Communions And Confirmations

The Bishop of Killaloe has asked parishes in Co. Clare to postpone all First Holy Communion and Confirmation ceremonies, on medical advice.

The Diocese has announced that, following strong advice from the HSE, the ceremonies should not go ahead.

Bishop Fintan Monahan says it’s been made clear to them that the problem is not with the actual ceremonies, but with the gatherings and parties that inevitably arise afterwards.

He says he understands the upset and inconvenience this will cause, especially for ceremonies due to take place this weekend, but has asked that all parishes in Clare follow this advice.
