Better news for the students of University of Limerick though, managed by Brian Lohan they beat Waterford this afternoon 1-11 to 0-10.
UL now progress to the Quarter final against Waterford IT, while Tipperary meet Kerry in the last 8 next Sunday.
The McGrath Cup final will see Cork take on Kerry next weekend.

The rebels beat UL today 6-16 to 0-07
While Kerry overcame Cork IT 2-12 to 0-13 in Tralee.
Dublin are out of the O’Byrne Cup.
They lost to DCU this afternoon by 3-8 to 16 points- the DCU winner came in injury time.
Elsewhere, UCD beat Laois by 1-14 to 3-06.
Kildare beat Carlow by 1-11 to 8 points.
And Meath beat Wicklow by 4-11 to 2-05.
It means Kildare will play UCD and Meath will play DCU in the O’Byrne Cup semi-finals next Sunday.
Elsewhere, Wexford beat Offaly by 16 points to 13.
In the Dr McKenna Cup, Donegal beat Armagh by 1-10 to 11 points.
Derry beat Fermanagh by 1-11 to 2-04.
And Cavan beat Down by 1-09 to 5 points.
In the FBD Connacht League,
There was a shock result, as Leitrim beat Galway by 1-10 to 2-06.
Elsewhere, Mayo and IT Sligo drew on a scoreline of 2-08 to 1-11.
In the Walsh Cup preliminary round,
NUI Galway beat Laois by 1-17 to 1-14.
UCD beat Carlow by 1-11 to 13 points.
And DIT beat Westmeath by 3-17 to 4-12 after extra time.
