Sixmilebridge have been knocked out of the Munster Club Hurling Championship after a thrilling semi-final clash with Ballygunner in Waterford this afternoon.
The Bridge opened the scoring, but struggled to stretch a lead over their Waterford opponents in the opening fifteen minutes.
Playing with the wind, Sixmilebridge scored a string of points to bring a five point lead into half time; the score 0-11 to 0-6.
It was the turn of a fiery Ballygunner side to open the scoring in the second half, and after ten minutes the sides were equal on twelve points apiece.
The big blow for the Bridge came when Ballygunner substitute JJ Hutchinson found space in their defence and hit the back of the net with three minutes of normal time remaining.
A further point from the Gunners gave them a four point lead, so when Seadhna Morey netted for the Bridge three minutes into extra time, there was no time to attempt to equalise.
Full time in Walsh Park was Ballygunner 1-18, Sixmilebridge 1-17.
