Townlands In Focus – Inchiquin and Clifden

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Colm Liddy who is a local historian and author. On this week’s edition of townlands in focus, Colm discussed the townlands of Inchiquin and Clifden in Corofin. He spoke about the areas which are hidden gems in the county of Clare. Colm made reference to Inchiquin lake originally owned by the Quinn family while also highlighting the role of the O’Brien family in the local area. He also made reference to Murrough ‘the burner’ O’Brien who was a war criminal from the area. He described the natural forest area of Clifden and the empahsis of segregation in the local graveyard.
