Protests are taking place in Oughterard over rumours that a Direct Provision centre is to be located there and they have gathered worldwide attention.
Bryan Fanning, from Ennis joined Gavin on air to discuss the issue. He is a Professor of Migration and Social Policy in UCD, and believes greater political leadership is needed.

He’s also co-edited a book entitled Immigrants as Outsiders in the Two Irelands which is being published by Manchester University Press.
