The German Supermarket giant has erected a site notice at Shantraud, Killaloe , where it intends to construct a two-storey discount foodstore.

The store itself would be over 2,400 square metres and the development is intended for a site of just below one hectare.

The store will include an off-licence and its environs will bring an additional 112 car parking spaces to the East Clare town.

Two of the bays would be dedicated for electric vehicles, while four will facilitate drivers and passengers with disabilities.

Lidl is also intending to mount solar panels on the roof of the premises.

The company currently has stores in Ennis, Shannon and Westbury, while planning permission has been secured a for an additional store in Ennis, a replacement store in Shannon, and a new store in Sixmilebridge.

It’s expected to submit a planning application for the Killaloe project within the next week.
