On a 50 acre site near Kilfenora a group of friends established the centre to promote sustainable living.

Among the many residential courses the social enterprise hosts are those that aim to empower people to take practical climate action in their homes and communities.

At one of the events, 25 people from across Ireland came together to look at ways for communities to pool their strengths to take practical climate action at home in terms of housing, energy, food, and waste.

A lot is being done by community based groups like Common Knowledge and at the heart of the work being done here is biodiversity and tackling climate change.

Aoife Hammond is community projects manager at Common Knowledge.

For more on climate change, listen in to Clare FM for our next episode on October 10th and check out https://www.clare.fm/ours-to-protect/.
