Canon Michael McLoughlin P.E.
Fr Michael McLoughlin was born on 2nd of August 1936.
Having completed his studies for the priesthood in St Patrick’s College, Carlow, he was ordained a priest on 11 June 1960.
His initial appointments were in Galway diocese from 15 July 1960 until July 1964, Ardagh and Clonmacnoise diocese from July 1964 until July 1965 and Clonfert diocese from July 1965 until March 1969.
On his return to Killaloe diocese he was appointed curate in Bournea parish on 1 March 1969 and subsequently curate in Silvermines parish in July 1973. He became chaplain in Cahercalla Hospital and Spiritual Director in St Flannan’s College, Ennis on 14 July 1978. During this period he also served as diocesan director of vocations.
He was appointed parish priest of Kilmaley on 23 July 1993. He retired as parish priest on 29 July 2011 and became priest in residence in Kilmaley.
He served as chaplain to the sick and assisted pilgrims on the annual Killaloe diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes from 1978 until 2019. He was appointed an honorary chaplain to The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes on 29 June 2010.
He died on 24th of April, 2026

Funeral Mass in Kilmaley Church at 2.00 pm with burial in the Church grounds.
