It follows another road traffic collision on the N68 at Darragh over the weekend.

Eight months ago, residents of Darragh launched a renewed campaign for urgent safety overhauls on a 2km stretch of the route, following a serious road traffic collision which left one person hospitalised.

This section of the road has been the site of four fatalities since 2007 and locals have taken their quest for a reduced speed limit, improved signage and resurfacing of the road to the council chamber, TDs and Ministerial meetings.

All have engaged with Transport Infrastructure Ireland on the issue, but the issues remain unsolved.

Dermot Custy, owner of Darragh based Custy Construction, says they’re getting nowhere and fears another fatality.

Renwed frustration has been sparked locally following another road traffic collision over the weekend.

Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon wants the Road Safety Minister to enact a 60km/h speed limit on the route before the Dáil recess next month.
