It’s claimed unpopular solutions will be needed to protect Clare communities from coastal erosion.
It follows a new report from the University of Galway which shows 2,279 properties and 570km of roads are currently at risk of falling into the sea.

The research was commisioned by the Climate Change Advisory Council which is calling for a masterplan to combat the immense scale and imminent risk of coastal erosion.
Former Loop Head Councillor Cillian Murphy says it needs to be tackled urgently.
