UHL Management Urged To Cease All Non-Emergency Admissions As Trolley Figures Soar

The INMO is urging management at UHL to immediately cease all non-emergency admissions, as trolley numbers there reach a record-equalling high today.

The latest INMO figures from University Hospital Limerick show that this morning, 81 patients were without a bed there – 43 of those on trolleys in the emergency department alone.

The overall figure is the highest ever recorded at the Dooradoyle facility and was only matched on one other occasion, in April of this year, and is almost twice the figure of any other hospital today.

It also comes during the summer period, which is traditionally a time when the numbers seeking admission are lower.

The INMO’s Midwest representative Mary Fogarty has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that it’s extremely concerning:
