The Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick is among at least six nationwide which have been hit by unofficial action by locum doctors.
The stand-in medics have been failing to show up for their shifts, in protest at a six Euro per hour reduction in their pay.

The Irish Association of Emergency Medicine says the action is set to spread to other hospitals nationwide – it has also happened in Navan, Naas, Portlaoise and Dublin.
Association spokesperson Fergal Hickey admits patients are likely to suffer as a result.
