Separate fatal crashes overnight
Last night – a female pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on the Cork to Carrigaline road at Carr’s hill shortly after 2 o’clock this morning.
The road remains closed pending a technical examination.
Elsewhere – a 22 year old woman was killed when her car collided with another vehicle at the Ballyclough Junction on the Mallow to Killarney road at about 8 o’clock last night.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A mother and her three children who were in the other car have been taken to Cork University Hospital – the extent of their injuries isn’t yet known.
Garda forensic experts are at the scene and any witnesses to the crash are asked to come forward.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are continuing to investigate a fatal accident in Co. Mayo yesterday morning – which killed a 25 year old man.
