Nurses say there were 61 people waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital today.
The latest figures from the INMO show the level of overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick is climbing once again, with 42 people waiting on trolleys in the Emergency Department this morning and a further 19 on wards.
It’s over two dozen more than the next busiest facility.
The UL Hospitals Group has this week urged people to only attend the ED in the case of an emergency, saying a high number of seriosly ill patients have been attending over the past number of days.
They’re asking people to contact their GP or out of hours GP service in the first instance or to visit the injuries or medical assessment units at Ennis General Hospital.
