The Tánaiste admits the government will have to get involved in the management of patients at the region’s main hospital.
Leo Varadkar’s also acknowledged the level of investment in University Hospital Limerick ‘may not be enough’ given its the only model four hospital in the region.

Responding to a question from Scariff Independent TD Michael McNamara in the Dáil ahead of summer recess last night, the Tánaiste expressed his frustration that funding for additional bed capacity and a state-of-the-art emergency department hasn’t made a difference.
Leo Varadkar, who’s due to visit Clare today, says other hospitals have improved without the same level of investment as UHL.
