There’s been a significant spike in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.
The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 82 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds, 35 of those on trolleys in the ED.

The overll figure is a dozen more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when there were 534 patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
