Spancil Hill Fair takes place today

Up to 5 thousand people from across the country and further afield are set to descend on Spancil Hill today for the world famous annual horse fair.

The traditional event has been held at the famous crossroads for over 300 years with plenty of wheeling and dealing expected to take place.

A traffic management plan is in place for today’s event.

Ennis Gardaí say people headed from the town to Tulla will proceed as normal, though those going in the opposite direction will be diverted left at Henchy’s Cross as a one-way system will be in place from 7am until 10am.

However, Superintendent Derek Smart says people not going to the fair should stay away from Spancil Hill area
