Shannon Resident Raises Concern Over Potential Cat Poisonings

Concerns have been raised by a Shannon resident after a number of pet cats have reportedly been found dead in the locality.

Rossbracken resident Clare Maher was forced to take both of her pet cats to the vet, after they appeared to suddenly lose mobility in their hind legs, one of which has since passed away from suspected anti-freeze poisoning, while the other is said to be fighting for its life.

Clare believes four other cats in the area have also been found dead over the past fortnight, and while the matter has been reported to an Garda Síochána, there’s currently no clear indication as to whether the animals have ingested poison.

She’s told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that it’s a heartbreaking situation.
