The Shannon-headquartered company, which designs and manufactures home life safety devices like smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, is seeking planning permission for a rooftop solar photovoltaic sysTem on the roofs of two of its buildings.

The development would involve the installation of 1,010 photovoltaic panels with an approximate installation area of over 9,640 square metres.

The application also provides for associated mounting systems, electrical cabling, connection to the existing on-site electrical infrastructure, ancillary electrical equipment and other required works.

The applicant has stated the proposal will facilitate the generation of renewable electricity on existing roof structures and won’t require the development of greenfield land.

It’s also clarified it represents an extension of the existing on-site solar PV provision within the premises.

Submissions on the development can be made until August 8th while a decision is set to be made by the local authority by August 31st.
