Gardaí are advising that everyone attending this week’s Amgen Irish Open in Doonbeg will be subject to a security search.
An Garda Síochána is issuing further security advice ahead of the tournament.
Gardaí say small bags, similar in size to an under-seat airline carry-on bag, will be allowed onsite.
Bag searches will be in operation on entry, with a list of prohibited items detailed on both the DP World Tour and Garda websites.
Gardaí are advising people to arrive early to allow more time for security checks, and to minimise what they carry in order to speed up entry.
Attendees are asked to stay alert at all times, tell security if something doesn’t feel right, never leave bags unattended, never agree to look after a stranger’s bag, and follow any staff announcements.
Gardaí have also reminded the public that access to the tournament will be via park and ride only.
There is no general parking available at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, and pedestrian access to the tournament is prohibited.
