A man whose body was discovered off the coast of North Clare this morning has been named locally.
The remains of 20 Year-Old Jack Boddy were discovered, following an extensive search.
An initial search was mounted on Sunday evening after the family of the 20-year-old Limerick man expressed concern for his safety.
Following an appeal for help on Facebook, members of the public gather early on Monday morning along with volunteers from the Doolin and Killaloe units of the Irish Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence.
The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter also assisted in the operation.
A land and coastal search resumed this morning and at around 9.30am, a body was located on the shoreline at Lahinch. It’s understood the discovery was made by members of the Doolin unit of the Coast Guard.
Gardaí were notified of the discovery and made their way to the scene. The remains were later recovered from the scene by Gardaí as well Coast Guard and Civil Defence volunteers.
The body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
