Ryanair Lodges Plans For New Hangar At Shannon Airport

Ryanair has submitted plans for a new hangar at Shannon Airport.

It comes just weeks after the airline announced a multi-million euro investment in the facility.

Wonderlight Ltd, with an address at Ryanair Dublin Office Airside Business Park, Swords Co.Dublin, has submitted the application seeking the construction of an MRO facility and staff accomodation at Lindbergh Avenue and Earhart Avenue at the Clare base.

The development forms part of the airline’s €50m investment in the Clare base, which is set to create over 400 new jobs

Plans consist of the construction of a two storey building, 17.5m in height, with the ground floor to consist of a 4 bay MRO hangar to enable the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft.

The ground floor will also consist of ancillary floorspace to include for a training facility, storage and toilets alongside switch, comms and plant rooms.

The application also includes blueprints for a new vehicular and pedestrian access to the site, pedestrian access to the bus stop on Airport Avenue, along with two internal circulation areas and four taxi apron zones with access to the existing airplane taxiway.

The construction of a chemical & refuse storage building, and two under-ground static storage water tanks are also contained in the plans.

Wonderlight Ltd is also seeking a foul pumping station and rising main connection to the existing foul sewer network, revised on-site surface water drainage arrangements and connection to the existing storm sewer along with the connection to existing mains water supply infrastructure.

Any submissions must be made to Clare County Council by September 3rd with the local authority to make a decision before September 24th.
