Ryanair says it has the capacity to provide additional services from Shannon for the Ryder Cup.
The biennial contest between the best golfers from Europe and the USA will take place at Limerick’s Adare Manor in 2027 and is expected to attract 250,000 visitors to the MidWest.
It comes as the Irish Aviation Authority has imposed a new summer passenger cap of 25.2 million for Dublin Airport next year, while Shannon Airport Group CEO Mary Considine has confirmed it can handle up to 5 million passengers if required.
But Speaking during a visit to Clare, Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that it’s a distraction to say Shannon is a solution to the passenger cap problem.
