A new report from Daft.ie has found that rent prices are rising sharply in cities throughout the country, and that this is driven by a shortage in supply.

Average rents in Dublin grew 8 and a half percent, while there were jumps of more than 10 percent in places like Cork and Galway.

Principal of St. Joseph's Secondary School, Spanish Point, Mary Crawford, is trying to secure a place for her daughter and spoke today of how people queued at one complex in Galway from 4 a.m. on Monday morning to secure a place to stay.
