Record High Number Of Patients Waiting For Cardiology Appointments At Ennis Hospital

The number of patients waiting for Cardiology appointments at Ennis Hospital is at the highest level on record.

New figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show that over 2,300 service users are on waiting lists in the county town.

At the end of May , 1,472 patients were waiting for Cardiology appointments at Ennis Hospital, the longest list since the National Treatment Purchase Fund commenced records in 2021.

Of those, 287 have been waiting more than a year for an appointment, with 382 waiting over a year and a half.

A further 603 adults were waiting for Urology services while 127 patients were waiting for Rheumatology appointments in Ennis.

Waiting lists at University Hospital Limerick also reached their longest point of the year in May, with over 32,700 adults and 5,000 children waiting for services.

Dermatology was the discipline most in demand at UHL, with 4,694 patients waiting for an appointment.

Across the Adult and Children Inpatient and Outpatient lists, there are now a total of 1,410 patients waiting over 18 months to see a consultant at Dooradoyle with Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat services, Cardiology , Paediatric Cardiology and Dermatology most prevalent.
