A major investment in water infrastructure in Quin is seen as a first step in kickstarting growth in the Ennis hinterland.
Irish Water recently announced a 4.6 million euro upgrade of the local waste-water treatment plant, and an event is taking place this evening at the Quin Community Centre to outline plans going forward.
The project which will get underway before the end of the month, aims to double the capacity of the existing plant, and is expected to be completed by next summer.
Diarmuid McMahon of Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon says providing adequate infrastructure outside of the county town will allow for more houses to be built and for long awaited growth in both areas.
