Procedures In Place to Eradicate Shannon Odour

Local representatives in Shannon are hopeful that procedures put in place to monitor air quality there will ease fears about public health.

The EPA and Clare County Council launched an investigation after residents in Shannon reported a foul odour, and after the town’s Senator Tony Mulcahy raised grave concerns about the impact this would have.
 
However, Environment Minister Phil Hogan that no dangerous pollutant levels have been recorded there, and he also unveiled a range of measures which have been put in place including a review of the town’s wastewater treatment plant and sewer network and the monitoring of air quality and patterns of illness.
