Plans have been submitted for a major refurbishment of the McDonald’s restaurant in Shannon.
The development would include the addition of two EV charging ports at the site in Tullyvarraga.
The Shannon store is one of just two restaurants the fast food chain operates in the county.
In the application submitted to Clare County Council, McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland Ltd is seeking to develop a dual ordering system along with new menu signage and a height restriction barrier in the drive-thru lane.
Elevational works would also be carried out on external windows booths and doors in the drive-thru, with modifications to the kitchen area, including the installation of two new grill bays also included in the proposal.
To facilitate this, works including the partial demolition of the bin store area and alterations to doors, fence panels, freezer and chiller stores along with the replacement of the internal access door to the reduced bin store area would be carried out.
The development also includes plans to expand the number of car parking spaces to 29, while installing two new electric vehicle charging stations.
Any subissions to Clare County Council must be made by November 23rd, with a decision due to be made by December 14th.
