Over €22,000 has been raised for charity in Clare FM’s fifth annual radio auction in conjunction with the Ennis Lions Club.
This year’s edition supported St Clare’s School in Ennis, which caters for children with additional needs.
St Clare’s School has a population of over 100 students and has been supporting children with autism and profound, moderate and severe learning disabilities since 1986.
This year the school is aiming to complete its specialised sensory and accessible playground, which helps to regulate their student body before and during a tough day of learning.
Eddie Punch, who’s son Dara attends St Clares, says the work done there is incredible.
The Ennis Lions Club once again teamed up with Clare FM for the annual Radio Auction Fundraiser and the call for prize donations was heard far and wide, with 231 items across a wide array of goods and services going under the hammer.
When the final whistle blew on a morning of furious bidding, the final amount of €22,105 was revealed by Ennis Lions Club President Susan Ward.
Coupled with the results of last year’s Radio Auction, over €55,000 has now been raised for St Clare’s to enhance its school facilities.
Principal Ed Scannell says it will have a lasting impact for generations to come.
