Only one Garda Station in Clare recorded no burglaries last year.
New crime statistics from the CSO have revealed that 156 burglaries or related offences took place here in 2022.
The Central Statistics Office’s most recent Crime Statistics report shows that ‘theft and related offences’ was the most recorded crime in this county last year.
508 such instances were recorded at Ennis Garda Station, followed by 69 at Shannon, 41 at Ennistymon and 40 at Kilrush.
Ennis was the also frontrunner when it came to ‘public order and other social code offences’, with 209 offences of this nature experienced in the county town, followed by 42 in Shannon, 27 in Ennistymon and 25 in Killaloe.
While the total number of burglaries was lower than that of other offences, at 156, this crime was reported at every Garda station in the county except for Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Again, Ennis saw the greatest number with 50 offences of this nature recorded, while Shannon saw 23 and Ennistymon, Kilrush and Killaloe all saw more than 10.
Similarly, Crusheen was the only Garda station to record no public order offences while all stations bar Corofin recorded a controlled drug offence across the year.
