It’s claimed South Clare is missing out on major tourism opportunities due to a lack of focus on water based activities.
It follows a proposal put forward to Clare County Council calling for further supports to develop assets along the 102km Shannon Estuary route.
Particular emphasis has been placed on the weekly Illaunmanagh Park Run which consistently welcomes throngs of participants arriving in Shannon on flights from the UK.
Newmarket-On-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor David Griffin believes the region has untapped potential.
