The next Mayor of Ennis is being urged to oppose a controversial development on the grounds of Clare’s largest secondary school.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran-Molloy tabled a motion at this weeks’s Ennis Municipal District meeting to “build consensus” among the county town’s local elected representatives on the proposed relocation of St Joseph’s Hospital to lands behind St Flannan’s College.
The motion, which received broad support, sought to recognise that the project would result in a loss of an important sporting amenity for students.
Councillor Colleran-Molloy says all councillors need to let the school’s management know they’re opposed to the plans.
