Fresh efforts are being made to reduce the cost of school books for hard-pressed parents.
The Education Minister is proposing a new scheme to publishers – as over 830-thousand primary and secondary pupils prepare to return to the classroom this week.

A recent study by Barnardos says back to school costs can be as much as 350 euro for a child in junior infants and as high as 800 euro for a second level student.
