The new Mayor of Ennis claims he’ll push for bringing community into local democracy during his tenure.
Clarecastle Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle will serve as Cathaoirleach of Ennis Municipal District for the next year after being elected at the MD’s annual general meeting this week.

The Cork native will be the first Sinn Féin representative to wear the county town’s chain of office in over a century.
He says he wants to see meetings live-streamed going forward to allow the public to have a better view of how decisions are made.
