A Midwest addiction counsellor says decriminalising drugs will “solve nothing” unless the necessary supports are put in place.
The Oireachtas Committee on Drugs Use has recommended the possession of drugs for personal use be decriminalised and that a health-led approach to tackling addiction be adopted.

The Taoiseach has committed to giving serious consideration to the recommendations and to introducing a health referral scheme for those found in possession of illicit drugs.
Michael Guerin says the goal should be to stop “creating addicted people”.
