Search For Missing Man Stood Down After Body Is Found

The search for an elderly man missing in North Clare since last week has been stood down following the discovery a body this afternoon.

Thomas Connole (82) was reported missing from his home at Carrowmanagh North, Kilshanny on Friday.

Gardaí had issued a public appeal for assistance in tracing the man’s whereabouts.

This afternoon, a Coast Guard land search team from Doolin located a body. The body was recovered from the scene by Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence personnel and removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination is expected to be carried out.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed this evening: “ Following the discovery of a body of a male, the missing person appeal in respect of Thomas Connole (82), who was reported missing from Carrowmanagh North, Kilshanny, Co. Clare since Friday 26th June 2026, has been stood down.

An Garda Síochána would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance.”
