Minister Promises Targeted Lump Sum Energy Supports For Clare Hopsitality Industry In Budget 2024

The Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment insists significant supports will be put in place in the upcoming budget to alleviate pressure on Clare’s hospitality sector.

The industry currently employs over 12,500 people in this county, while contributing over €250 million per annum to the local economy.

However, with the higher hospitality vat rate of 13.5% reinstated earlier this month, many businesses here are fearing closures due to soaring utility bills and an incoming increase in the minimum wage.

Defending the hike while speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Fine Gael Deputy leader, Simon Coveney says lump sum energy payments will be prioritised for the sector on budget day.
