A man in his seventies has lost his life in a workplace accident in West Clare.

Gardaí have launched an investigation.

The incident occurred on lands at Clonadrum, Mullagh shortly before 1 o’clock this afternoon.

While the circumstances of the accident remain unclear, it’s understood that a digger may have been involved.

The man who lost his life is in his seventies and is understood to come from the local area.

Gardaí have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway, while it’s expected that the Health and Safety Authority will be informed also.
