A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a road traffic collission near Dromoland overnight.
The multi-vehicle collission occurred on the MI8 between Junction 12 Killoo and Junction 11 Dromoland.
It’s understood that both vehicles were travelling in the southbound lane of the motorway before colliding which resulted in one car overturning and landing on its roof.
Garda Roads Policing Units responded to the incident along with colleagues from Ennis station, with National Ambulance Service paramedics and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis and Shannon stations also attending the scene.
Both motorists were assessed by paramedics at the scene where the suspected drink driver underwent a breathalyzer test which resulted in a fail before his arrest.
The female driver of the overturned vehicle was taken to hospital for further treatment.
