Level Of Overcrowding At University Hospital Limerick Greater Than Next Two Busiest Facilities Combined

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today is greater than the next two busiest facilities combined.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 95 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick while Cork University Hospital and Sligo University Hospital being the two next busiest facilities with 36 on trolleys a piece.

32 of the patients at UHL were in the emergency department while 63 were in other wards.

It comes on a day when there were 357 patients on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
