Lack Of Accommodation Said To Be Stifling East Clare Tourism

It’s claimed tourism numbers in East Clare are being stifled due to a lack of accommodation.

Concerns have been raised over Inis Cealtra’s visitor numbers, as just 1,358 people attended the amenity this summer following a €5.3 million redevelopment of the site.

611,000 people visited attractions owned by the Clare Tourism DAC in that time, meaning less than 1% of tourists stopped off at Inis Cealtra.

Chairperson of Tourism East Clare, Arlene White, says more also needs to be done to draw people to the area for day trips.
