Kilrush to save 150 thousand if super loo gets the flush

Kilrush Town Council estimates that it will save almost 150 thousand euro by terminating it’s contract for the controversial superloo in the town.

The local authority intends to withdraw from it’s contract for the facility, which will then be removed following a notice period of 12 months.

Penalties of over 53 thousand euro plus VAT will be incurred due to an early breach of contract with the supplier, while the Council estimates that it will also lose out on revenues of 8 thousand euro in that period.

However, charges for the ‘superloo’ in this time would have amounted to 211 thousand euro, plus VAT, so the decision to remove it has led to the significant saving.
