Killaloe-Ballina Bridge Pedestriansiation Branded “Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity”

The potential pedestrianisation of a landmark bridge is East Clare is being described as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.

An informal public information session will be held in the Killaloe Hotel today from 5pm to 7pm on Clare County Council and Tipperary County Council’s intention to pedestrianise the existing Killaloe-Ballina Bridge.

The plan forms part of the Killaloe Bypass, Shannon Bridge Crossing and R494 Improvement Scheme which involves the construction of a new vehicular traffic bridge and connect the proposed Killaloe Bypass to the R494.

Killaloe Municipal District Senior Planner Brian McCarthy believes the measure would have a very positive effect on both towns.
