A Kilkee Councillor claims the loss of a Superintendent in the West Clare region was felt at the weekend after a number of farms were the victims of a ‘crime spree’.
Thieves managed to escape with a number of high-value farm equipment, including trailers and a quad bike.
Superintendent John Ryan was transferred to the Ennis Garda Division last month, following the retirement of Superintendent John Galvin, leaving the West Clare region without a senior-ranking member of the force since.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy says these types of incidents will continue without a Superintendent at the table to fight for further resources.
