The Department of Justice has been accused of a drop and run practice in Lisdoonvarna, after a number of community projects in the north Clare village have failed to secure funding.
Three projects have been granted funding under a Communities Integration Fund operated by the Department of Justice, two of these focused on the integration of asylum seekers in the community.
But one of the founders of Community Group LINKS, Theresa O’Donoghue, says a number of other vital initiatives have been unsuccessful in securing funding, and believes it’s not good enough:
The Department of Justice says its committed to providing supports to residents of the King Thomond Centre, which opened as a direct provision centre in March, and is finalizing the provision of a further €22,500 in funding to Clare Immigrant Support Centre to provide an Outreach Project.
And you can hear more on this on Clare FM’s Morning Focus later this morning.
