Just over 60% of Ukrainians believed to be in Clare have had recent activity in administrative data, such as welfare payment, since the end of November.
The new data from the Central Statistics Office could mean there could be as little as 3,000 natives of the eastern European nation still residing in the county.
The latest figures reveal 4,962 Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, or BOTPs, are understood to be in Clare as of February 3rd.
This is the sixth-highest nationwide and is up slightly on the 4,921 recorded as being in the county on November 30th of last year.
A total of 1,786 Ukrainians are recorded as being in the Ennistymon local electoral area, with this region having the second-highest number as a percentage of population nationwide at just shy of 10%.
When it comes to those with recent activity in administrative data, such as a welfare payment date, which the CSO says is a more accurate indicator to whether individuals are still present in the state, the number in Clare falls to 3,016.
Of these, 945 are in the Ennistymon region, 735 are in Ennis, 524 are in Kilrush, 523 are in Shannon and 289 are in Killaloe.
Meanwhile, today marks the 4th anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The UN estimates 15 thousand Ukrainian citizens have been killed in the fighting with over 40 thousand injured and millions more displaced.
